Frequently Asked Questions
What team should my child tryout for?
You should have your child tryout in their age group based on the child's age on 8/31. Please see the age calculator or chart in the link below
League Age Determination - Little League
Your player’s league age is determined by the Little League Baseball® and Little League Softball® Age Charts. The dates for baseball and softball are different, but each determines the division in which your Little Leaguer will play this season. The Age Determination Date for a Little League Baseball player is the actual age of a child on August 31 of the current year.
If the player’s age is between May 1-Sept 1 2009, they are eligible for 12U Cal Ripken and should attend the 12U Tryout on May 14 at 730pm
When will the teams be announced?
The All Star rosters for 12, 11, 10 and 9 year olds will be announced on or around 6/1. The rosters for the 7 and 8 year olds will be announced around 6/8
How are the rosters selected?
The rosters will be created by a committee including independent evaluators, the All Star Coordinator, Manager and CLL Board Members. It is import to know that rosters will not be created by one person. Evaluators will take into account performance during the Rec season as well. The goal is to create a transparent, equitable process in order to provide the ball players a fair opportunity to make the team
What is the time commitment if my child makes the team?
Once the team is announced, managers will begin to hold practices several days a week. The district tournament will begin at the end of June and could run through the first 2 weeks of July. The district is trying not to schedule games on the July 4th weekend but that is not guaranteed. Families should be prepared to play through the month of July in the event the team wins the district and advances to Region or State
What is the cost?
The cost will be $150 per player. A fundraising opportunity will be made available to defray or completely cover the cost.
I am not sure if my child will make the team - should they still tryout?
Yes! First, there is value in your child testing their skill against others in their age group. Encourage them to try their best and have fun. There is an opportunity to learn every time they are on the field. Second, there is a possibility of an additional local tournament in early July. CLL is considering entering a team of players who did not make All Stars. Attending these tryouts would make a player eligible for this tournament team. More info to come as the district makes plans.
